Open Library Website's Books Tab - Library Catalog - Advanced Search - Open book record for Go Set the Watchman
* Review information under "Explore", "Publication information", and "Awards"
*Share a discovery with the class about this book the the group thinks is interesting.
Open Library Website's E-Encyclopedia Tab- Open the Reading and Interpreting the Works of Harper Lee e-book in the Literature and Literary Criticism Box
Review the "Private Life" chapter and idenitfy something that the group thinks is interesting to share with the class
Open the Library Website's Databases Tab - Open Link for New York Times in "Newspapers Box" - first column
Use Advanced Search link to combine in Box 1: "Harper Lee" and in Box 2: obituary
Group Reviews the section about Harper Lee's family and identifies something interesting to share with the class.
Open the Databases Tab and Click on the link for the Biographies in Context Database in the Biographies Box
Use Advanced search to do a keyword search & combine in the first box: "Harper Lee" second box: "pulitzer prize"
Review the information in the article, "Harper Lee" in the .especially look at the "Personal Information" section at the bottom and discover what other writing awards she received
Agree upon something interesting to share with the class.
Open the Databases Tab and click on the link for the SIRS Database in the "Hot Issues" Box
Click Advanced Search and put "To Kill a Mockingbird" in the first box and "banned books" in the second box
Open the article titled: "Mistake to Ban Mockingbird"
Agree upon something the group discovers that they think the class would be interested to know.
Open the Databases Tab and click on the link for U.S. History in Context in the History Box
Do an search using "Search Phrase": Monroeville, Alabama
In the "News" section, open the article titled: "Harper Lee would surely disapprove of the plans afoot for
her Alabama hometown."
Read this short article and choose an interesting discovery to share with the class.
Open the Academic Websites Tab and Click on the link for "19th-20th Century American Writers" in the Literature: Literary Criticism Box
Open the link for "Literary History" and then the link for "20th Century Literary Criticism"
Click on "L" for Authors with the last name beginning with L and Open the Lee, Harper link and then the link to the article "To Kill a Mockingbird, by Harper Lee, a classic Review." Read the short review published the year that the book first came out. and agree upon an interesting discovery to share with the class .
Open the Video Tab and click on the PBS link
Do a search for "To kill a Mockingbird"
Locate the Antiques Roadshow video about the value of a 1st edition signed copy of To Kill a Mockingbird"
Listen to the video. Agree upon an interesting fact to share with the class.
