Summer Reading 2024: All Students

Summer Reading 2024: Mysteries (All High School Students)

It was nearly a century ago that Edward Stratemeyer created a popular mystery series called “The Hardy Boys,” and soon after, the “Nancy Drew” mysteries that remain bestsellers today. The tradition is in good hands. Books of suspense are regularly affixed to the New York Times Bestseller lists and continue to carve out popular sections in our bookstores and libraries. Television and film too, have capitalized on this genre,
whether it be a Netflix series or Dateline NBC. We all, it seems, are drawn to a good mystery.

This summer, we turn to mystery to not only capture your interest but inspire you to read on – to read more, to become truly lost in the pages of a book. As is tradition, we require that you read two titles from our list. In a bit of a twist, you may read two books by the same author, if you are so inclined.

If we may paraphrase from Edgar Allan Poe and his classic poem, The Raven, “let your heart be still a moment, and these mysteries shall you explore.”
