Our World 2023: La Salle Academy Outreach

LSA LASALLIAN OUTREACH

Here at La Salle Academy, we offer many opportunities for service in our school community, our local community, our state,

and in other parts of our nation and the world. Through the Campus Ministry office students can volunteer for many different types of service, including working with children, the elderly, helping with cleanup projects, distributing food to those in need, and many other service options.

MCAULEY VILLAGE CHRISTMAS 2022

On December 15th Campus Ministry and Lasallian Youth alongside many students celebrated their annual Christmas party at Mcauley Village. Gifts were graciously donated and wrapped by the Women's soccer team and pajama sets were given to every child thanks to our PALS group. Out of the kindness of his heart, senior, Bob Evangelista 23' dressed up as Santa to surprise the children. He put a smile on many of the children's hearts. La Salle Academy is so blessed to have so many students who are continuously willing to give to those who have less. Everyone played games, made crafts, opened presents, and much more.

CLUBS AT LA SALLE

La Salle Academy offers an array of clubs, many of which further the Lasallian mission. La Salle Academy is proud of its constant strides in giving back to those who are less fortunate as well as giving back with kindness.

BEST BUDDIES -

Best Buddies is dedicated to establishing one-to-one friendships between La Salle students and Meeting Street School students who have intellectual and developmental disabilities. La Salle students learn firsthand about the power of inclusion and acceptance through these friendships.

LASALLIAN WOMEN OF HOPE -

Lasallian Women of Hope is a student-based organization. It serves as a single part of a large organization with women across the globe. This year the LSA chapter has received high praise for its ability to donate 200+ sets of pajamas to the women and children of Mcauley Village. LWH specializes in giving grants to grassroots organizations aswell as helping young girls receive a lasallian education.

LASALLIAN YOUTH -

Lasallian Youth is a student-based club committed to the principles of faith, service, and community. Beyond La Salle Academy, it is an international organization of young people who put their faith into action. Service to others is a key component of Lasallian Youth. Members of the club serve at local agencies as well as regional efforts; paying mind to the social, emotional, and spiritual well-being of all people. In 2023, Lasallian Youth wrapped Christmas gifts alongside faculty member, Ms. Grillo, for families in need at the Scalbrini Center in Providence

SOCIAL CONCERNS -

The Social Concerns group is devoted to helping the less fortunate and is dedicated to those living in poverty. The group’s principal focus is serving the poor of Rhode Island as well as our twinned school in Kenya. If there is a natural disaster elsewhere, however, we will respond with help. The group sponsors the Rice Bowl/Twinning fundraising during the weeks of Lent, the Thanksgiving Drive by collecting money for local agencies, and the Adopt-a-Family program during Advent. For Christmas, each homeroom will “adopt-a-family” in need in RI and allow them to have a Merry Christmas. This is a very rewarding activity and aims for 100% school participation. As other needs occur, this group is ready, willing, and able to help.

YOUTH IN ACTION -

This group focuses on promoting and sustaining a healthy lifestyle.  The issues of underage substance abuse, and stress/anxiety, which factor into a student’s overall character and school experience are addressed in weekly meetings and school-wide activities.  Students in this group compete in the annual Mocktail Competition, facilitate Prom Promises and Red-Ribbon Week, and bring awareness to the health and safety of all students through advocacy programming.
