Mexico suffers from poverty as 34 million Mexicans can only afford micro-apartments. These have turned small towns into slums as this issue continues to snowball.

The majority of cities and states effected by poverty are in the South and along the United States-Mexican border. Some of the worst cities see 1 in 3 people effected by poverty, but the United States also had many examples of little poverty. The overall U.S. had 1 in 6 people living in poverty.

Poverty in Belize is a continuos struggle due to the country ignoring this dyer problem. Many do not realize that Belize's poverty rate rivals that of Haiti.

In Costa Rica one out of every five people are in poverty with 1.1 million people out of the 4.9 million in the country suffering due to a decrease in income that over the course of six years lead to the largest poverty rate in Costa Rica's history.

The poorest country in the Americas at 70%; Suriname lacks a strong economy and other programs to help bring the people of the country out of poverty.

Uruguay's GDP is 21,870 USD, but invests in the county by major organizations has been slowly decreasing since 2014. These investments help to boost people out of poverty by helping the economy.

The current economic crisis in Venezuela has lead to an average of 24 pounds lost per resident and 90+% poverty rate. The people of Venezuela see their country is on the verge of collapse.

Antigua and Barbuda may not be 100% free of poverty, but can be a beacon of hope towards its neighbors. At 12% they have the lowest poverty rate in the Caribbean and Central America. Barbados is a close second at 14%, but as of now Antigua and Barbuda is in the lead.

Bahamas has a varying poverty rate depending on the year data was released. 13% are considered to be poor making less than $4,247 a year. A major flaw and critique of the island chain is its heavy reliance on tourism with 49% of jobs depending on weather and bad storms will cost them money.

About 14% of Barbados is effected by poverty, and this may seem odd as over a fourth of residents are currently unemployed. The poverty line in Barbados is 5,503 Barbadian dollars which is about 2,760 USD.

Cuba has been poverty stricken for most of its life with influence from the United States and the Soviet Union keeping them in poverty. Things have improved after the collapse of the USSR with 15% of Cubans in extreme poverty, but this could change as the United States lifts strict regulations and travel restrictions.

The Dominican Republic has long been home to peasant farmers working to get by. More recently they have attempted to play catch up, and have been able to do so, but lacking infrastructure and a stable economy get in their way.

Haiti has had a hard life as a nation from the moment they gained their independence in 1804. They were recently decimated by an earthquake about a decade ago that many areas still have not recovered from. This disaster killed a 150,000 people, and left the nation in severe poverty.

Jamaica has made strides towards having a country with less poverty. At 14.5% they are moving towards many Western nations rates. The UNDP (United Nations Development Programme) ranks them 94 out of 188 nations which is exactly have way between the best and worst in the world.

Bhutan is considered one of the most isolated nations on Earth as it is landlocked in the Himalayan mountains with few foreign embassies besides its closest neighbors. Brunei does not suffer from that much poverty thanks to the countless government services like free health care and no taxes on its citizens. There are about 20,790 which is about 5,04% of the population.

Iran suffers from poverty across the country. Prominent experts would put this at 33% of the population live in absolute poverty. This amounts to 26 million people, and 6% or almost 5 million people starving.

Japan had an economic boom in the late 19th century, but the country's customs have hurt itself recently as a declining birth rate and far too many one qualified workers have caused poverty amongst those children that are born. Without a change the country's population will age and decline along with their economic prosperity.

In Kazakhstan approximately 4.3% of the population in 2018 lived below the poverty line. No one lives on less than 1.90 a day, and one of every 100 babies die before they reach their fifth birthday.

Nearly 33% of the population in Laos is below the poverty line, and is living on less than $1.25 a day. This is due to the agriculture industry making up 67% of the jobs in Laos, and these low skill jobs have kept Laos in poverty.

Malaysia has a serious issue with poverty as 60% of the population lives on less than $1,600 dollars a day. In rural areas the percentage increases to 85% of the population. They struggle to by healthy foods as they cost more than the total meal.

The percentage of the population living unemployed in the Maldives is 6.1% of the population. Maldives has a poverty rate of 8.2% of the population in 2016. For every 1,000 children born; 8 die before their fifth birthday.

The economic growth of Mongolia has slowed significantly from 11.6% in 2013, 7.9% in 2014, 2.4% in 2015, and 1.2% in 2016. The poverty rate in Mongolia is about 29.6% of the population in 2016, and is an 8% increase from 21.6% in 2014.

In Nepal 25.2% of the population is below the poverty line. As of 2010 15% of the population lives on less than $1.90 a day. As of 2017 for every 1,000 children born; 34 die before their fifth birthday.

North Korea is a hermit kingdom that would keep all information that would tarnish the name of the Kim family. The North Koreans have a poverty rate of 40% of the population at about 24 million. This could be much higher as the regime would not let anybody publicity get released.

The poverty in rural Turkey is just as bad as Istanbul and the European part of Turkey. The urban centers population has increased significantly, but poverty still exists in both the urban and rural areas.

The poverty in Turkmenistan has dropped significantly from 45% in 1925 to 58% of the turn of the century in 1999. The poverty rate in Turkmenistan currently sits at about 0.2% according to its government. Turkmenistan has depreciated the currency by 20% in 2015, and their economy is very weak due to the Russian Ruble suffering.

The poverty in Uzbekistan is 11.4% as of 2018. For every 1000 children born in 2017; 23 die before the age of five. They have the highest population of Central Asia, and suffer from extreme poverty.

The poverty rate in Vietnam in 2014 was 13.8, and fell by 4% to 9.8% by 2016. Vietnam still has poor citizens who live above the poverty line. It is up to 72% of the population, mostly highland farmers, that live in rural areas where poverty is most common.

The poverty rate in Myanmar is 26%, and nearly 70% of the population lives in rural areas. This means nearly 13 million people live in poverty, and in rural areas the poverty rate doubles to nearly 52%

With data compiled from 2018 has shown that 3 million people or 13.2% of Australia's population is in poverty. The poverty line is defined by people living on less than 50% of the median income. This included 739,000 children who make up 17.3% of the people in poverty in Australia.

In Fiji about 28% of the population is in poverty as of 2013. Fiji also has a high rate of electricity to its citizen at 98.6% in 2010. For every 1,000 babies born; 25 babies die before their fifth birthday.

Kiribati could not even cover the study to see how much poverty existed in the country without a contribution from the Norwegian government. They found that the majority of poverty exists in the capital city of South Tarawa.

In the Marshall Islands, poverty exists in the largest cities. However, the largest cities of Majuro and Ebeye are not that big, but still hold 75% of the population. These places have some poverty as it is hard to get all resources to the islands.

The Federated States of Micronesia has 41.2% of the population living below the poverty line. A little over three fourths (75.4%) of the population has electricity on the islands. For every 1,000 babies born; 32 die before their fifth birthday.

Nauru has a poverty rate of 24%. There percentage of the population being overweight is a more serious issue. Approximately 94.5% of the population are overweight, and another 71.7% of the population is considered obese. This makes Nauru the most obese nation on Earth.

New Zealand has a child poverty rate of 33%, and at 300,000 children this is 45,000 more children then it was a year ago. This shows that the issues in the child poverty rate are only getting worse, and need to be addressed.

Palau was once one of the richest nations in the world thanks to their rich deposits of phosphate. These, however, were over mined so fast and eventually lead to them running out. With the poor investments madly the Palau government the country fell into poverty.

Approximately 40% of the population fell below the poverty line as of 2017. An estimated 85% of the population in Papua New Guinea live in isolated places. Their mountains ranges in the country have separated groups of people for millennia, and because of this divide their are over 700 languages spoken their. This makes it difficult to help everyone.

The percentage of the population living below the poverty line is relatively low at 26.9% of the population. Though this is true, 68% of the population raises live stock, and this goes against the often true reality of farmers being in poverty.

Poverty of the Solomon Islands are at about 12.7% as of 2013. The majority of the poverty can be found on the islands of Makira and Guadalcanal at just above 30% and 20% respectively. They also have the highest rates of people below the food poverty line at just above about 10%.

In Tonga approximately 22.1% of the population lives below the national poverty line as of 2015. As of 2016 about 97% of the population has electricity. For every 1,000 births in Tonga about 16 die before the age of five.

Just about 26.3% of the population lives below the poverty line as of 2010. Tonga has more than just poverty to worry about as 45% of residents has to be relocated due to Cyclone Pam that hit the island.

Vanuatu has no data on their poverty rate, but their unemployment rate is about 5.4% as of 2018. For every 1,000 babies that are born; 27 die before their fifth birthday. About 57.8% of people have electricity on the island.

Located in Georgia, this republic was created by the Russian Government in the Russo-Georgian War of 2008. They are currently in a fight for independence like South Ossetia, but suffer from poverty in the area stemming from the days in the Soviet Union.

From Stalin's policy of mixing peoples and ethnicities; this is a group of Armenian's who have fought to join Armenia or become independent from Azerbaijan due to religious and ethnic tensions. They have a poverty rate of 22.8%, and has declined from 26.2% previously.

The percentage of the population that lives below the poverty line is at about 23%. This was an estimate made in the year 2002, and the British territory is located in the Caribbean and could soon become independent thanks to a referendum.

Poverty in the Dutch colony of Aruba has had a GDP per Capita rate of around $11,500 United States Dollar. From 1996 through 2000 the rate increased from $9,800 to $11,400. From 1997 through 2000 it was only a raise of $100 USD ($11,400-$11,500)

Ashmore and Cartier Islands are a territory under the control of the Australian government. Islands like this are used for military outposts, but also for housing immigrants who attempt to enter the country illegally.

The poverty rate of the Bailiwick of Guernsey is about 24% with an estimated 76% of people not being in or at risk of becoming impoverished.

Poverty in the Bailiwick of Jersey is a lot worse than the Bailiwick of Guernsey. Jersey has 44% of single parents struggling to cope financially as of 2011 based on 1,500 families. A further 25% of couple struggle to cope financially with at least one child.

In Bermuda their economy has risen a great deal from 2000 to 2016. Sales and Service jobs rose +37% from 2000 to 2016. Profession, Technical, and Managerial jobs rose +67% from 2000 to 2016. Old agricultural and fishery jobs have lost 32% other jobs.

The poverty rate in Bonaire, an overseas colony of The Netherlands suffers from severe poverty. The Dutch government has put in place a plan where the social security sits at 25% of the minimum wage, and will rise to 55% next year in 2019.

Bouvet Island is a small uninhabited island owned by Norway in the Indian Ocean. There arena people on this island due to the fact that it is a glacier that has killed almost everyone that landed there.

The poverty in British Indian Ocean Territory is a British territory located in the Indian Ocean thousands of miles away from Australia and Africa. They suffer from being so far away that getting resources to the islands are very difficult. There were once slums on the island, but the British made the Chagos relocate to neighboring Seychelles and Mauritius.

The British Virgin Virgin Islands is a Caribbean territory that is a great vacation spot with pristine beaches. The poverty rate is 16% of households and 22% of the population.

The poverty in the Cayman Islands is better than most other islands in the Caribbean. The unemployment rate is at about 3.4%. Among the Caymanian residents is only 5.3% even though it once was as high as 7% several years ago.

Christmas Island is an Australian colony found in the Indian Ocean. They are to small, and have not really had someone try to calculate the poverty rate. They have a birth rate of 16 per 1000 and a death rate of only 1 per 1000.

The Clipperton Island is a French colony located in the Pacific Ocean. It is a n uninhabited atoll that has no permanent population, but it does house migrants often in poor conditions.

The Cocos Islands, otherwise known as the Keeling Islands, is an Australian territory located in the Indian Ocean. It is another remote and uninhabited atoll that has housed refugees or military bases at one time.

In the Cook Islands; no data exists on poverty in the territory. The Cook Islands are also one of the most country like territories in the world, and may be apart of New Zealand, but operate with a lot of autonomy. The five dollar minimum wage also hurts a lot of residents buying power for basic needs like food.

The Coral Sea Islands are a territorial island located in Oceania off the coast of Australia, who are the administrators over the island. They struggle with sea level rise due to global warming and losing valuable pieces of land. These islands also are home to migrants who want to make the Coral Sea Islands.

Curaçao is an overseas territory that is apart of the greater Kingdom of the Netherlands. As of 2011 the poverty rate in Curaçao is 25% of households. The city of Fortuna has 52.4% of households (1,000) in poverty as of 2011.

Easter Island is the territory located off the coast of South America, and is hundreds of miles from the country. Half of the population on Easter Island is indigenous, and live in poor conditions.

The Faroe Islands are an overseas territory of Denmark located North of the United Kingdom. They were at one time a poor nation full of poverty, and over time they became rich and are no longer impoverished at a rate in which they once were.

French Guiana is one of the only colonies left on Earth, and is now an active part of the French Government serving as much important of a role as that of Metropolitan France. The percent of the population that lives below the poverty line is 26.5%. They also have one of the highest gross national incomes in South America.

French Polynesia is a group of islands that me up apart of overseas France. The largest island is ‘sous le vent’, and that island makes up 75% of the population. On this island the poverty rate its 25%, and the total poverty rate is higher.

In the French Southern and Antarctic Lands their are no people who live there permanently, but instead it is made up of researchers and scientists who live there in the summer. The United Nations does not recognize the area as apart of France.

The poverty in Gibraltar is 7%, but in the mid-1980's this rate was much higher reaching 60%. They are, however, upset that the United Kingdom left the European Union.

Greenland is an overseas island territory owned by the Kingdom of Denmark. Greenland is the largest island on Earth, but due to its location only 57,000 people live there. Roughly 16.2% of the populations in poverty.

Guadeloupe is an overseas French territory located in the Caribbean. The poverty rate is about 12.5% of the population. They suffer from hurricanes and earthquakes, and this has hurt their economy and impoverished their people.

Heard Island and McDonald Islands is an overseas territory in the Indian Ocean administered by the Australian Government. This island is mostly uninhabited in the ocean.

In Hong Kong poverty is an issue. On average, there are roughly 20% or 1 in 5 people are in poverty in Hong Kong. The elderly especially is becoming a larger part of the population that cannot work and will need to be taken care of. This will most likely lead to more people living in small apartments in Hong Kong.

The Isle of Man is a county of the United Kingdom founding the Irish Sea between Ireland and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. There poverty rate is about the same as the rest of the UK at 20%.

The islands of Jan Mayen are apart of Norway, and is located in the North Sea and is north of Iceland and Norway. The island of Spitsbergen is the largest and most populated their, and has about the same poverty rate as Norway at 7.5%.

Macau is a special administrative region in China, but was a former part of Portugal until China asked for it back. They have a poverty rate 2.3%, and has an issue with over population density. Iao Hon is the most densely populated part of it with 170,953 people per square mile.

Martinique is a French colony located in the Caribbean, and their human development index 0.946 which 24th amongst nations in the world. The Mayotte is a string islands located within the nation of Comoros. They choose not to become independent in 1975, and remained apart of France. They are considered a French territory, and are 84% below the poverty line. The rate in Metropolitan France is only 16%.

Montserrat is another British territorial island located in the Caribbean. They are known for their Soufrière Hills volcano, and in 199 it erupted destroying much of the island (two thirds). Réunion is a small island located in the Indian Ocean off the coast of Africa. The people their blame Paris for their inflation, and poverty. Things have only gotten rose since they raised the fuel tax.

Saba is a Dutch owned island located in the Lesser Antilles. They have a small population of just 1,991 people. There poverty is difficult to estimate, and some families struggle to get by though it is not obvious.

Saint Barthélemy has a population of just 9,625 people as of 2015, and there poverty rate has not been measured. The infant mortality rate is 9.07 per 1,000 babies die.

Saint Helena, Ascension and Tristan da Cunha is a British island located in the middle of the South Atlantic Ocean. They are one of the most extremely isolated places on Earth.

Saint Martin is half the island owned and administers by the French. They do not have an exact poverty count, but homelessness is a major issue.

Saint Pierre and Miquelon is an island owned and administered by the French, but is located at the mouth of the St. Lawrence River. The island's economy relies on fishing with 41% of it employees coming from the industry.

Sint Eustatius is a Dutch territory located under the Kingdom of the Netherlands. This island is located in the Caribbean, and suffers from dependency on tourism and homelessness.

Sint Maarten is the Dutch side of the island located in the Caribbean and administered by the Netherlands under the Kingdom of the Netherlands. They deal with homelessness as a major issue, and rely on tourism for a majority of their income. They have a poverty rate said to be at 94%.

South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands are a British territory that is located just south of the Falkland Islands. There territory is too small to measure the poverty in the outh Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands.

The islands of Svalbard are apart of Norway, and is located north of Norway and above the arctic circle. They are home mostly to scientists and researchers, and most likely have little poverty there.

The Falklands Islands are a set of islands off the coast of South America. For a time they were impoverished, but now they are very wealthy. They are owned and administrated by the United Kingdom, and the UK has fought to keep them under their domain.

Tokelau is apart of the New Zealand government, and has a population of 1,499. Tokelau is threatened by global warming, and sea level rise while fighting to stay afloat.

The Turks and Caicos Islands are one of the smallest territories in the Caribbean with just 50,000 people living there. They rely on the fishing and tourism markets for their continued economic growth.

Wallis and Futuna is a French overseas territory located the South Pacific Ocean, and is apart of Oceania. They have an issue with job replacement as the territory is very old 42.2 of the population was under the age of 24 while 8.6% is above the age of 65. There population is also shrinking, but in 1955 growth was 2.15%, and currently is .3%, but will continue to decline too -.34% by 2100.

Åland is a Finnish island territory that for hundreds of years was under Swedish control and speaks Swedish. Åland relies on their own trained farmers to supply food for the country. 72% of agricultural land is expected to reach agrienvironment-climate measures as of 2019.

Algeria suffered from poverty through 1991, but only once the people of the country took fate into their own hands did something change. They voted out Islamic Front (FIS) from power, but still poverty exists at an estimated 5% (2011)and unemployment rate of 11.7% in 2017.

Since the end of the war in 2002, Angola has made significant economic improvements, but a large number of its citizens still live in poverty.

Poverty in Benin has only become worse with 35.2% in 2009 to 40.1% in 2015. They rank near the bottom of the world in the 2016 Human Development Index (167/188 countries).

Botswana has had a significant decline in poverty, but this has done little to battle the problem. Half of children are in poverty in Botswana, and Botswana is one of the few countries in Africa that dedicate resources to social services at 4.4% of their GDP.

In Burkina Faso the wealth inequality is very severe. The top 20% owns 55% of the wealth. The top 10% is only 39.5% of the wealth. This is why nearly 60% of the country resides in poverty.

A landlocked nation in Central Africa; Burundi suffers from extreme poverty. This poverty rate is one of the highest in the world at 64.9%. Since 2015 nearly 400,000 people have fled to neighboring The Democratic Republic of the Congo to escape this poverty.

The African archipelago has a poverty rate of 30%. The World Bank estimates this and that 14% of the population lives in extreme poverty. The lack of domestic agriculture has lead to 82% of the food eaten their to be imported.

The Central African Republic (CAR) is one of the poorest nations on Earth with a average GDP per capita of $639. Over the past couple of years the number of people living at $1.90 a day has increased.

Poverty in Chad is has always existed at a very high rate. The poverty rate of Chad went from 55% in 2003 to 47% in 2011. This is due to the constant civil war that has plagues Chad's history.

The poverty rate in Comoros is about 18% according to the international poverty line. It also causes concern as 53% of the country is under the age of 20.

Ivory Coast has a poverty rate of 46.3% in 2015. They have suffered from armed conflicts from 2002-2007, and election corruption in 2010 and 2011.

The poverty in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) has affected children just as much as the adults, if not more. There are an approximate 4 million orphans in the Congo from both diseases and armed conflicts using the death of there parents.

The extreme poverty rate in Djibouti is 21.1%. Also, 16% of the country lives on less than $1.90 a day. Djibouti's GDP has grown from 2001-2017 at an average rate of 3.1% helping the countries population.

Egypt poverty has been around for a long time, but the Arab Spring was meant to change that as heads of state across the Arab world fell. Egypt has since fallen to economic ruin with 30% of Upper Egypt facing chronically poor living conditions.

Equatorial Guinea is actually one of the richest countries in Africa with a median GDP of $22,300 USD. This rate is the highest in Sub-Saharan Africa. They have avoided poverty thanks to them being the third highest producer of oil in Sub-Saharan Africa at 376,000 barrels of oil per day.

Eritrea fought a brutal civil war to become independent from Ethiopia. They did fairly well economically, but due to a oppressive regime in power; there press has been restricted, rights been taken away, and have had people fleeing at every opportunity. There 66% poverty rate is one of the highest in the world.

Swaziland is one of the last countries in Africa to be under the control by a ruling monarch. This has done little to help the country as there poverty rate is theorized to be as high as 84% of there population.

The share of the population living below the national poverty line decreased from 30% in 2011 to 24% in 2016.

Gabon is an upper-middle-income country. The fifth largest oil producer in Africa, it has had strong economic growth over the past decade, driven by its production of oil and manganese.

The Gambia’s economy relies on tourism and agriculture and can be sensitive to shocks in the world economy. Still, real gross domestic product (GDP) growth was estimated at 6.5% in 2018 (from 4.8% in 2017), driven by increases in tourism, construction and an improved electrical grid.

Ghana's has worked hard to improve the poverty their, and it has been largely successful so far. From 1991 to 2012 the poverty rate in Ghana has gotten smaller from 52.6% to 21.4%. Extreme poverty also fell from 37.6% in 1991 to 9.6% in 2012.

In recent years Guinea's economy has reinvigorated a great deal. It now has a growth rate of 5.8%. Mining is growing rapidly and agriculture is the chief employer of 52% Guinea's citizenry.

The World Food Programme (WFP) has stated that the poverty rate of Guinea-Bissau is 69% of the population. A forth of the total population suffers from chronic malnutrition. This is due to a majority of the population (85%) relying on agriculture as their main source of income.

Approximately 50% of the 38.3 million people are children below the age of 18. For every 1000 children born, and 74 die before their fifth birthday. The percent of the population below the poverty line in Kenya is 46%

Lesotho as a country is a country that has been faced with ongoing drought for a number of years. This has severely impacted the economy and the nation's ability to address the Covid-19 pandemic.

The poverty of Liberia is at an all time high of 64%, and those in extreme poverty has hit 1.3 million people. The food security in Liberia is very bad as chronic malnutrition effects 41% of the population.

The Libya under Muammar Al Gathafi, the former Prime Minister of Libya. The Libyan Civil War tore the country apart even more.

As of 2012 the 70.7% of the population in Madagascar lived in poverty. The welfare loss in Madagascar between 2005 to 2012 was a 3.1% decline. On average men earn 37% more than women.

Malawi has a population of 15 million people, and nearly 53% or lost 8 million people are in poverty. In Malawi a vast majority of the country lives in rural areas of the state.

In Mali the population lives on a measly $1.25 a day. This leaves more than 50% of the population lives below the international poverty line. The average age of the male in Mali is 55. Mali also has one of the lowest adult literary rates on Earth at 38.7%.

The estimated percent of the population below the poverty line in Mauritania is 31%. Oil, mining and agriculture are the major sectors of the economy and can be unstable.

The extreme poverty rate in Mauritius is 1.2%, and a total of 122,700 Mauritius citizens are in poverty. This has risen from 92,700 Mauritius citizens from 1996. Those in extreme poverty live on about $1.25 a day per person.

In 2007 about 8.9% of the population were considered poor in Morocco. This is a large decline from the 16.3% of the population in 1998. Now in 2014, the poverty rate in fell to 4.2%. Nearly 19% of the population live in rural areas are vulnerable to poverty.

The poverty rate in Mozambique sits at roughly 50%. From 1996 to 2009 the 13 year period did little to effect poverty at 0.26%. The poverty rate in Mozambique could've been 2 million less if the economic growth from 1997 to 2009 had been shared more evenly.

The poverty incidence rate in Namibia is 26.9%. The unemployment rate is just barely below 30% at 29.9%. Namibia also has an issue with disease due to HIV prevalence at 16.9%. Namibia has had a good economic growth of 4.3% over the last 5 years.

Niger had the highest birth rate per woman at eight children per woman. No other nation on Earth had eight with most of Africa's neighbors having six to seven children. Thanks too this amongst other factors 60% of Niger's population were below the poverty line.

The poverty in Nigeria is so bad that India, who at one point was home to the largest poor population in the world was now past by Nigeria. Nigeria is in debt and there oil based economy is faltering. They have been called corrupt, and United Airlines no longer flies there as Nigerian government owes them money.

The Republic of the Congo went through a Civil War in the late 1990's (1997-1999). The economy of The Republic of the Congo is contracting at a rate of 2.8% in 2016 and 3.1% in 2017.

More than 60% of the Rwandan population live in extreme poverty. As of 2005 57% of the people are under the poverty line in Rwanda. Now in the year 2010 the rate was reduced to 45% of the population.

In the former Portuguese colony of São Tomé and Príncipe; the people their face a 62% poverty rate. The country is said to need a plan to deal with and restructure the poverty plan to help the population there.

The poverty rate in Senegal sits at a 46.7% of their population. In 2011 the population of Senegal was living on less than $1.90 a day. Their Gross National Income was $950 USD in 2016. Like many other African Nations; Senegal has a majority (75%)of their population working in the agricultural sector.

Poverty in the provinces Plaisance, Les Mamelles, Roche Caiman and Mont Fleuri is at 52% of the population. These areas are most impoverished. The poverty line their is $300 per adult.

Sierra Leone has one of the lowest life expectancies in the world at 48 years old. Sierra Leone has 60% of the population living below the poverty line. The adult literary rate in Sierra Leone is 41%.

Somalia is one of the poorest countries in the world. There government collapsed back in 1991 after a brutal civil war in the 1980s. The poverty rate is estimated to be at 73% by United Nations Development Programme.

The poverty in South Africa was more than 50% in 2015. At some point the poverty rate hit 55.5%. The lowest of the decade was 53.2% in 2011. It is estimated that nearly two thirds of South Africans are in poverty (66.6% or 31.6 million people).

The youngest nations on Earth; South Sudan has suffered from poverty, illiteracy, inflation, war, and maneuver things. 73% of people and 84% of women are illiterate,and 42% of civil servants have no more than a primary school education. Tanzania has been growing at a very high rate the past couple of years with the growth being around 6-7% per year. The people in Tanzania believe the government is doing a good job with fighting Corruption. 37% said fairly well in 2014 compared to 71% in 2017.

Living in the rural parts of Togo will show you the worst poverty you will ever see. Nearly 81.2% of rural Togolese are in poverty. This is one of the worst rates on Earth. Almost 50% (49.5%) of the people are impoverished and under the age of 18.

Those living under the poverty line in 2019 was 3% with 1% living in extreme poverty.

Uganda has been able to deal with their poverty in a great way. They lowered it from 31.1% in 2006 to 19.7% in 2013. The country was also one of the fastest growing Sub-Saharan Africa to reduce its poverty rate and those who live on less than $1.90 a day.

Zambia has a poverty rate of 60%. Of everyone in Zambia; 42% are considered impoverished. In rural Zambia nearly 83% of people are impoverished. Children in Zambia are 40% stunted and 15% are underweight.

Extreme poverty rose from 29% in 2018 to 34% in 2019 due to a slow up of the economy and the impact of an El Nino created drought.

Albania is widely considered one of the poorest countries in Europe with 800,000 of there 3.2 million people surviving on less than two dollars a day.

Andorra is a small but wealthy nation located between Spain and France in the Pyrenees mountains. They have become much wealthier thanks to European Integration and have a low inflation rate of -0.9 % as of 2015.

Poverty amongst children in Austria has shown that those that are not in poverty are not prone to smoke or be bullied while those in poverty suffer bullying and smoke. Those in poverty do no have as many skills and resources as their riches counter parts do.

Belarus after the collapse of the Soviet Union was insecure poverty, but thanks to long time president Alexander Lukashenko's policies this statistic has dropped 90%. Belarus also does not pay much to those unemployed with only 12 Ruble vs. neighboring Poland's $200 zloty.

Poverty in Belgium is at about 15.9%, but European indicators place this rate closer to 20.9%. Those 0-17 seems be the most effected compared to older generations, and this is attend across much of Europe.

Bosnia has worked to reduce poverty since becoming independent from Yugoslavia, but by 2011 there rate stagnated and still sits as the second largest in Europe after Bulgaria. Though the average income was higher in the 1980's than it was in 2007.

Bulgaria has the highest poverty rate and at risk poverty rate at 41.3%. Bulgaria suffers this due to corruption in the country along with small pensions and a long transition from Communism.

As a recent member to join the European Union; Croatia is working to lower its poverty to meet 2020 standards. The coast where ethnic Croats live is in the single digits for poverty while areas effected from the Break up of Yugoslavia have rate from 42-70%.

Cyprus's poverty rate is increasing from 23.3% in 2008 to 27.7% in 2016. This is thought to be caused by the drop in disposable income from €16,000 Euros to €14,000 Euros.

Czechia has transitioned well from Communism to into the European Union as it boasts the lowest inflation rates (2.4 %) EU in 2017. These days it is still the lowest in persistent poverty rate and overall poverty rate.

Denmark has been voted the happiest nation in the world for there free education and health care to the high minimum wage. However, poverty has been on the rise in the past decade at 17.7% in 2015 compared to 16.3% in 2008.

Estonia has worked hard to join the European Union and NATO, but still suffers from poverty stemming from its days under the Soviet Union. However, the rate at which children live in poverty dropped from 2.5% in 2017 to 1.6% in 2018.

Finland has one of the world's lowest inflation rates at .8% and at the same time one of the highest tax rates at 53%.Finland attributes its lack of poverty to being a welfare state and making sure all citizens have enough money to survive.

In France about 9 million of the 66.99 million people live in poverty equalling to roughly 13.5% poverty rate. Many of these people are women, children, and foreigners make up a sizable population.

Germany is considered the economic powerhouse in Europe, but poverty exists thanks to Stalin and his iron curtain. East Germans on average makes 80% of what West Germans make. This leads to more poverty in the Eastern parts of Germany.

Greece has gone through a tough recession in 2004 leading to unemployment reaching 28% in 2012, and a youth unemployment rate of 35.4%. Huge debts owed to Germany has lead to 95% of Greeks today they feel poor or struggle financially. Only 23.2% are in poverty as this statistic has been stagnate since 2011-2015.

Hungary's poverty rate sits at 17.7%, but with earning below poverty rate, living in a state of deprivation,and working poor has one expert saying that the poverty at almost 47% of Hungarians affected.

Iceland is known for its impressively low poverty rate sitting at about 6,000 people out of the 332,000 making about a 2% poverty rate. This was not the case in 2007 when 80% of the markets value collapsed, but thanks to a tourism boom and Icelandic government debt relief the country thrives.

Ireland has a poverty rate of 18% with 790,000 people in poverty. This includes 250,000 children and another 105,000 people who are working while in poverty.

Italy had a tough year with poverty as 300,000 more people found themselves on the streets. Roughly 12% of Italians live in poverty with 5,000,000 people in total.

Latvia has struggled due to being at a crossroads of different empires like Germany, Russia, Sweden, and Poland. They suffer from losing their brightest minds, and those who stay find themselves involved with alcohol, reckless behavior, and suicide. This has lead to their annual average income being about 14,600 USD.

Liechtenstein is another small nation located between Switzerland and Austria on a map. They have very little poverty at 0.5%, and the whole country could be rented $70,000 a night.

Lithuania has a high poverty rate of 30.1% in 2016. This rate has rose 1.8% since 2008. They currently have the fourth highest poverty rate in the European Union.

Luxembourg is a smaller nation with a low unemployment rate of 5.9% compared to the European Union average of 10.4%. However the rate for non-EU workers was at 20%. Their poverty rate sits at 19% which is large for such a small country.

Macedonia struggles with poverty as ethnic groups clash within their own borders. The ethnic minority of Albanians have help to make tensions higher. The 9.1% poverty rate, low crime, and 19.7% unemployment rates do help the economic situation. They also struggle with Greece of cultural rights to Alexander the Great and have not been able to join the European Union.

Malta has the lowest levels of at risk poverty for under 18 year olds at 4% in 2004, and the rest of the European Unions 25 member states sit at 8%. Malta sat at 6% in 2000 and attributes the success to 67% of minimum wage jobs having a pay raise.

Moldova fall from Grace as one of the Soviet Unions richest states to Europe's poorest in 20 years. They suffer from being landlocked, and a break away country on their Northern border known as Transnistria as they attempt to hold on to their Communist roots.

Though Monaco speaks French the word they do not have the word poverty their dictionary. They are the only country in the world with no poverty.

Montenegro has faired well since the collapse of Yugoslavia in the 1990's with a low poverty rate compared to their neighbors at 8.6%. Some issues still exist like Women's unemployment rate at 17.3%.

The Netherlands currently have 2.5 million people living below the poverty line. This places the poverty rate at 14% of the 17 million Dutch residents living within The Netherlands.

Norway has a small poverty rate of only 10% according to the EU standards, but is likely lower than that. Norwegian citizens benefit from a slew of social programs helping them to not become impoverished.

Poland's poverty rate has decreased significantly since the early 1990's. This is thanks too the policies of the Communist party being loosened to enable economic growth. This trend also lead to an economic rise in terms of real income.

Portugal does suffer from a lot of poverty. They have a 19% poverty rate and a 14.8% unemployment rate which is why many youth are not employed as the debt of Portugal mounts.

Romania is losing population fast shrinking from 22.8 to 19.6 million people from low birth rate and Romanians leaving the country to work in more prosperous EU member states. These issues have lead to those left in Romania making less as the most educated move away for a better life.

Russia has always had a problem when it came too poverty as even in the days of the Communist Soviet Union people were poor. Now Russia has nearly 20 million in poverty making up about 13.8%.

San Marino is a micro state and one of the oldest in the world from 301 AD. It is surrounded in Italy, and was hit hard by the economy crisis of 2009. They have since lowered their unemployment rate from 9.3% in 2013 to 8.5% in 2015, but to put things in perspective the United States has an unemployment rate of only 4.7% in 2016.

Serbia's poverty rate is a lot worse the farther south you go. The areas on the Kosovo and Macedonian borders where ethnic tension is greatest. 24.5% of the population of Serbia is at risk for poverty as of 2013.

Approximately 12.4% of the population is at risk for poverty in Slovakia. This was a slight decline from 12.7% of the population the previous year. This decline brought 20,000 people out of poverty.

Slovenia was lucky as after they broke away from Yugoslavia peacefully they were also able to join the EU and NATO. There at risk poverty rate is decreasing and currently stands at 13.9%.

Spain has a lot of debt currently, but also has a lot of economic growth. With this they still have a growing poverty rate. Cities like Sevilla suffer from child poverty reaching 40%.

Sweden has a fast growing poverty rate due to the migrants who have been given asylum there by the Swedish government. These people make up the vast majority of those who are below the poverty line. From 2008 to 2016 the poverty rate rose from 13% to 16%.

Switzerland is unlike much of Europe they have been neutral for the last 200 years and refuse to join any major alliances or international organizations until recently like the United Nations in 2002. Currently there isolation policy has worked well for themselves as only 1 in 13 Swiss citizens suffer from poverty.

European Turkey known as Thrace is the connecting point between the Black Sea to the Mediterranean and also separates the Balkan Peninsula and Europe from Asia. Turkey as a whole has a poverty rate of 25.6%.

Ukraine remains poor from the fact that since the end of the Soviet Union they have been in Russia's shadow. They have the lowest monthly income of any European country.

Roughly a fifth of the United Kingdom is in poverty with it rising at an alarming rate. This along with pensions drying up leaves an uncertain future at the UK attempts to exit the European Union.

The Vatican City is the smallest country in terms or both population and area. There population consists of those who work for God, The Pope, and the Catholic Church. The pope has even take-in the poor tasty in the Vatican on numerous occasions.

Poverty in Bahrain may seem few and far between with the amount oil being extracted in the country, but 12.2% live under 5 dollars a day and the theoretical poverty line in Bahrain.

Thanks to terrorist organizations like ISIS in Iraq the people their are continuing to plunge into poverty. They have had to create makeshift towns in the place of their houses now reduced to rubble. This occurs miles from restaurants in downtown Baghdad who are selling meals that can set you back up to $300.

Israel has a total of 1.8 million homeless, but children make up 842,300 of this population. Jerusalem is where over half of children experience poverty (55%), but down from 58% in 2015.

Jordan has a third of their population under the poverty line. This was not the case in 2010 with only 14% under the poverty line. The sudden change is likely due to oil becoming cheaper and the influx of Syrian refugees.

Kuwait is another country in the region rich with oil. Poverty is also an issue here with half a million living in rent a homes and another 106,000 people waiting for temporary housing from the government.

One in four people from Lebanon suffer from poverty. There economy is considered very strong with their upper middle class economy, but also have issues like Syrian refugees seeking asylum.

Oman has reached all eight of their own goals regarding poverty in the country. There goals include gender equality, reducing child mortality, and combatting diseases such as HIV/AIDS.

Qatar is one of the richest countries in the word with the second highest GDP per capita with an unemployment rate of 0-1%. They do however have more poverty than these numbers show with migrant worker living in poverty.

Saudi Arabia may have vast oil supplies, but a quarter of the country has been left unemployed. This is due to a rapidly growing population with Saudi Arabia more worried about the countries image than the people at times.

They Civil War in Syria has decimated the country to a point of almost beyond repair. With 4out of every 5 people unemployed and life expectancy cut by 20 years the people there will have a hard life ahead of themselves.

The United Arab Emirates population has grown rapidly, but nearly 70% of the current population is building skyscrapers for the richest in the country. This, meanwhile, leaves workers from the Indian Subcontinent, North Africa, and other parts of the Middle East in poverty.

Yemen is another country torn by civil war and unrest. This war is like Syria except Saudi Arabia has decimated towns controlled by rebel groups to help the Yemeni government while Iran has ben helping the rebels.
